It's later than you think.
I have always loved this phrase both for its simplicity and the complexity of the phrase. Initially, the superficial meaning of this is that we are always running behind playing catch-up to some unknown unseen driving force, while a deeper interpretation speaks to our fragility and ephemeral nature on this planet. We spend our youth feeling invincible, our middle age trying to accomplish things, and spend the last chunk trying to live strategically while trying to slap bandaids on the sins of the past.
It is also a rebel yell, a call to arms and a reminder not to get distracted by superficial ideas, people, pettiness and drama. We have all let distractions creep into our lives, but there comes a point to rise above them with a sense of clarity wrapped in urgency and resiliency to be the best iteration of yourself.
It's later than you think.
